Come join us as Lieutenant Commander Beth Carter shares her passion and extensive experience as a nurse in the Navy and how pursuing her masters degree in public health will give her new career prospects within the healthcare field.

About our Speaker

LCDR (Lieutenant Commander) Beth Carter is a 2012 graduate of Villanova University with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing.  After graduation and licensure exam she worked as an Ensign in the Navy at Walter Reed National military medical center first working with injured service members then expanding her practice into Emergency Nursing.  She continued her trauma experience at Naval Hospital Guam caring for local populations and service members and their families.  During this time she deployed for 10 months to Kandahar Afghanistan working at the NATO Multinational Medical Unit.  After a brief return to Guam, she went back to Walter Reed to expand her practice into Critical Care nursing.  After two years of critical care, She was competitively selected to serve as a White House nurse and served the President and Vice President of the United States during a global pandemic Dec2019-Jan2023.  LCDR Carter returned to Walter Reed in March of 2023 and is completing her Master in Public Health Health Promotion at Liberty University.  She currently serves as the Deputy Director of Medicine at Walter Reed.
